Parts Inventory

Know what you have, where it is, and what it is worth. PartsBox manages your electronic parts inventory as parts: each part holds its stock, storage locations, pricing, and history in one place. Search the whole database instantly by name, manufacturer part number, manufacturer, description, footprint, notes, or custom field.

PartsBox has four kinds of part, so you model real components accurately:

  • Linked parts carry a manufacturer part number. You get a datasheet, specifications, a thumbnail, and live pricing and availability from distributors.
  • Local parts cover everything else: generic components, PCBs, mechanical parts, and anything without an exact part number.
  • Meta-parts group interchangeable parts under one name and show their combined stock.
  • Sub-assembly parts are the result of building a project, and can be used as components in other projects.

Most parts are counted in pieces. Parts bought and used in continuous quantities are not. PartsBox tracks wire by length, solder paste by weight, conformal coating by volume, and sheet material by area, and keeps stock, pricing, purchasing, and builds correct across the unit a vendor sells, the unit you stock, and the unit you use. Few tools get this right.

Add your own custom fields to any part, and attach datasheets, CAD models, and documents. Custom fields are indexed for search and available as table columns, filters, and in exports. A storage location can be a room, a shelf, a box, or one compartment in a grid, and PartsBox always tells you exactly where a part is, so you never sort inventory by component type.

Parts, stock, storage, custom fields, and search are in every plan, including the free Maker plan. Attachments, internal part numbers, stock valuation, and sub-assembly parts start on the Essentials plan.
