Your data is yours, and PartsBox will never hold it hostage. You can take everything out at any time, on every plan.
Download everything you have ever entered as a single JSON file, anytime, from Settings | Data | Download JSON. There is nothing to request and no waiting. The export is JSON rather than a spreadsheet because the data model is not flat: each part carries its full stock history, lots, offers, and the relationships between them, which a single table cannot represent. JSON keeps all of it. File attachments are not part of the JSON; download those separately.
Data export is a core feature, maintained to the same standard as the rest of PartsBox. It works on every plan, including the free Maker plan.
The public API gives you programmatic access to your parts, stock, storage, projects, BOMs, orders, builds, and lots. Drive PartsBox from a script, from an ERP, or from your own tools, and use it as the inventory system of record behind them.
Your data is stored in a distributed database, replicated across servers. Backups run hourly, encrypted with AES-256, with off-site copies for disaster recovery. All access is over HTTPS.
I run PartsBox as a profitable, independent company, so there is no investor pressure and no reason to trap you. If PartsBox ever stops working for you, your full dataset is one click away. You should stay because the product is good, not because leaving is hard.
